HIV antibody testing can be done at many locations in the Counties surrounding Napa and Solano. Many of these clinics are held weekly and the tests are anonymous and free. Confidential testing can also be requested. Results for all these tests are generally available at the test site two weeks after taking the test.
Anonymous testing means that you receive a number when your test is done--- no names are taken. With a confidential test (which is also the type of test you will probably receive in a doctor's office or hospital), your name is taken and there is a record you were tested for HIV. Some people prefer anonymous testing since some forms of insurance, life and disability insurance for instance, can deny you coverage solely on the basis you were tested for HIV.
