Excellent and low cost [or free] care and treatment --- including HIV drugs --- is available in Solano County. Treatment guidelines, drug combinations, and clinical trials may be accessed through your medical provider or researched on the various web sites of interest. There are also other programs available in Solano to assist people living with HIV and/or AIDS to a better quality of life.
Are you living with HIV and/or AIDS or know someone who is and need help in accessing services and programs that may be available to you? Please call 707-553-5572 to reach the Solano County's HIV Care Assistant. They can provide benefits counseling to help guide you through the maze of public and private benefit programs and, if needed, make referrals to ongoing HIV case management for those new clients and clients reentering the case management system.

Housing Opportunities For People with AIDS (HOPWA)

The HOPWA program provides housing and utility assistance for eligible people with HIV or AIDS. Planned Parenthood administers the HOPWA program.
AIDS Drug Assistance Program

Over 100 drugs (including antiretroviral), vaccines, and lab tests, such as viral load and CD4 counts; which may be provided free or if insured pay the insurance deductibles for individuals with adjusted income of $37,240 or less (or with a deductible if between $37,240 and $50,000). This increases to $49,960 for a family of 2 and $50,000 for a family of 3 or more.
Solano AIDS Case Management Program and AIDS Medi-Cal Waiver Program

The Case Management Program is designed to serve persons with a diagnosis of AIDS or symptomatic HIV with case management services which include assessment, coordination of community resources, referrals to other health and social services and (at least) monthly face-to-face home visits by the program's Nurse Case Manager. Program components include the services of the Nurse Case Manager and a Medical Social Worker and can also assist with attendant care, assistance with emergency food and housing, and some assistance with transportation and benefit appointments.
The AIDS Medi-Cal Waiver Program allows Medi-Cal billing for services that Medi-Cal doesn't usually pay for in addition to regular Medi-Cal services. This program is available to Medi-Cal recipients who are HIV positive and have a predetermined level of care--- usually the need for some sort of supervision during the day.

Kaiser offers a variety of services for Kaiser members residing in Solano County. Call HIV PROGRAMS at 707-651-1448 for consults, referrals, and information.
M. Susan Beal, LCSW at 707-651-2330 is the HIV Coordinator for Solano and Napa County (including those members who receive services at Kaiser facilities in Fairfield, Napa, Vallejo, and Vacaville). Ms. Beale also runs HIV/AIDS relevant Support Groups for Kaiser members at the Vallejo campus. Please contact her for information and availablity on the current groups.
NorBAC - North Bay AIDS Center
Comprehensive care and early intervention services for people living with HIV in Solano County. Services are available in English, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese. All services are available at low or no cost. No on is turned away because of inability to pay. Wide range of medical and support services available.
NorBAC Clinics have served hundreds of HIV infected clients since May 1994. The mission of NorBAC is to improve the health and promote optimal quality of life for clients living with HIV by providing comprehensive primary medical care and early intervention services.
